Personal Details

  • About Me I am the author of "Reflections on a Generous Generation", an Amazon best seller, and have completed the first book of a series. The title is "
Storm Portal", which I anticipate will release in the spring.
I am a graduate of Cornell University, have had a successful career in business, and hope to have another as a writer.
I live with my family in New Jersey.

I have been a member of Noveltunity since the beginning, and think it's a great idea. Writers supporting writers is just super. I look forward to meeting you all. Probably impossible but who knows?
  • Books I've Written "Reflections on a Generous Generation", my first book, is a memoir and a history of the events which influenced my father's generation. We all know about the Greatest Generation. I have ventured to show why in the context of more than World War II. The story focuses on my father whose remarkable life was both unique and yet part of the collection of men and women who lived through the Depression, served in World War II, and changed the world. http://bit.ly/GenerousGeneration

My new book, STORM PORTAL, shows that time travel is real. Fritz Russell, a history teacher, walks in on the President of the United States, and unleashes the power of the government. Can he find the answer to the portal's mystery before it's too late? http://bit.ly/StormPortal
  • Favorite Authors The list is long and diverse, from Tolkien and J.K. Rowlings to the classics, I am predominantly a history reader, fiction and non-fiction. Throw in Clancy, and Ludlum, John Jakes, Jeff Shaara, W.E.B Griffin, Baldacci and Grisham, Leon Uris and Jeffrey Archer to expand the picture. Since I wrote my first book, I have expanded the type of reading to include new authors (Transcenders-First Timers by Vicky Savage, chick lit (so I've been told), YA, and a variety of fantasy. I am currently reading a physics textbook (very basic-never studied physics before), dystopian tales (Greylands by Krista Walsh, et.al.), a book about art by Douglas Waters, The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. Look forward to reading yours.

Hi Ann.  If I were a teacher, in the formal sense, I would be an easy grader if I could see effort.  When the effort isn't there in a book, I don't come back.  To me the story's the driver.  I want to know what happens.  If I don't care, I stop.  I am learning how to do that in my own stories.  Hopefully, the more I write, the better I'll get.

Since it's still early in its childhood, Noveltunity members are just finding their way through.  That's why I'm asking for your vote on my book, Reflections on a Generous Generation, one of the December contestants.  Please look it over.  It's non-fiction, and the story of the life altering events of those who grew up in the Great Depression, lived through the tempest of World War II, and returned to build the foundations of the world we live in today.  Thanks for your help.  Mike

Hi Lorraine-Nice to meet you.  I'll be checking your book out soon, but probably after the holidays.  They are a crazy time in my house.  Best wishes to you and yours for the season, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Hi my name is Mike Stern.  I'm a new writer and excited to be here.  I've been involved with Noveltunity as a concept for a while after talking to Rick.  What a great idea!

I'm a new writer and an old dog.  After a long and successful (I think) business career, I found a new world-writing.  Always a reader, I had never tried to write.  Then it happened.  I wrote a book.  "Reflections on a Generous Generation", a memoir, and a story of the a generation of Americans who faced the most difficult events in history and created the country we have become.  It was an Amazon best seller.  And I was hooked.  I am now working on a novel, the first book of a series, about a history teacher who time travels.

Happy holidays, Merry Christmas and here's hoping the the New Year is the best one yet, for us all.  Look forward to hearing from you.
